Can't assign turret groups

As the title says, I can't assign groups for turrets.

I go into the ship menu, click the turret so it's selected, press the number button and nothing happens.

Switching between them works (though there's little point in switching to an empty weapon group  :P )

 

Now, my guess is, my keyboard is azerty, so the top row aren't number keys, and I have rebound the turret group keys to the numpad. Maybe the assignment nevertheless tries to use the number row (which I don't have)?
