Upgraded drone that you can unlock. Moves faster, better mining lasers.

 

Alternatively, build your own Pseudo-Drone, that you can leave your main ship with. When entering a sector with a huge ship and you just want to trade, it would be nice to have a faster, more safe drone to leave your ship with to go dock with.

 

 

Artillery cannons. Probably asked for a lot, simple idea. I just want a large long gun. Rail guns are cool but dont "feel" like a sniper gun.

 

Which reminds me, I feel like railguns should have projectile travel faster and more accurately... and perhaps express a physical force that pushes the ship backwards when it hits it. Also, while keeping the DPS the same, have the rate of fire lowered to like 1/5th of what it is on average right now. So it shoots slower, but hits harder per bullet, but retains the current dps. They kind of just feel like a chain gun to me...

 

This next one is more of a suggestion born out of a complaint... I dont like how much thrusters you need. I feel like star citizen took the much better approach to thrusters. Theyre much smaller, but work much better. I wonder if developer would be willing to experiment with thrusters as if they were a mounted item like a turret, not a structural block. Imagine just placing thrusters on your ship as if they are a turret instead of big ugly blocks. They dont have to actually be items, but I just dont like it the way it it currently is. Maybe im alone in this... maybe not.

 

 

Mining drone gun. A gun you can shoot and it sticks a beacon on an asteroid. Drones launch off the turret and mine automatically. No need for any structural block to hold drone - they are attached to the turret itself. Extremely useful, maybe a high tier material only gun

 

Hire a writer to inject small stories into the game. I suggest spend a week playing stellaris with all the expansions, and youll see what I mean. Basically, game could use smaller stories that pop up in the game randomly. Like Disasters, Evil monsters(imagine deep space cthulu...), mysterious NPCs.. etc. Build some things that have a backstory and history. Maybe make a few special factions that always spawn and have unique characteristics. Like maybe a faction is always Praising a God and tries to crusade across the galaxy in their god's name. Their ships all have names like "paladin" "Holy knight" "Priest" instead of "frigate" etc You can help or fight them. Things like that.

 

 

Add a new random property to turrets - built in shield. It protect the turret only, so it is harder to shoot off. Doesnt need shield generator, has fixed HP and HP regen. Maybe is for high material only.

I would love more upgradeable parts to our ships that are permanent, like this. Would give an RPG-ey sense of progression. Alternatively, we could have each ship have these upgradeable parts, which don't transfer across different ships.

It would be sweet to be able to "dock a ship to another ship" so you can effectively do this, yes. We've all seen those classic alien carrier vessels that literally carry hundreds of tiny little shitty other ships on their sides. I realise this is what Carrier Ships with Hangars essentially do, but imagine something more cool like these bad boys:

Actually, if I understand what they're adding in the next two Combat Updates correctly, this is currently being added to the game!!

Maybe the better Material Thrusters need to be more effective in relation to their worse Material ones than they currently are? Would a straight numbers buff interest you, i.e. better Material Thrusters just "working better" than currently? Or do you really want a big change, like the turret thing you mention? I don't completely understand that by the way; do you have more examples so we can visualise what you mean?

Heh! Could you make them spiders that crawl around the asteroid until it's mined up? I would be incredibly satisfied if it was a gun that launches spiders at things. Hell, why stop at mining alone? Have the nasties chew away hull, too, for salvaging... or combat mwuhahahaha eaten alive by ROBOT SPIDERS.

Yes! Would enjoy more story content a lot. I like what you mean when you take the Stellaris comparison, although I suggest we go in a slightly different direction than that. Stellaris's main "plot" each playthrough is driven through these story events, while Avorion's progression as a game is drastically different and far more dependent on player action. I'd like to keep it that way.

Currently, I already like how the stories work. They're either random events, like Swoks, or they're questlines that you can choose to follow, or not. I agree I'd love to see more random events with more crazy varieties. More Xsotan-related panic events, strange black holes, wormholes or other freaky stuff going down would be cool, expanding on story beats and characters already in the game, that kind of stuff. Definitely interested in that.

I disagree. Already it's very hard to shoot the turret itself off. I'm starting to believe it's impossible. You need to shoot the block the turret is attached to off, which can already be hard considering these could be blocks with high amounts of hull to their name.

If we first introduce the change that turrets themselves can be shot off before the blocks they're attached to are destroyed (something I've also suggested elsewhere), I'm on board.

 

Some fresh ideas you have there! I'm enjoying these thoughts.

I'd go with Shrooblord in almost any point, but when it comes to artillery cannons, i think the cannons wich are in the game already should just be like that in general. Right now they are pretty useless after You got your hands on Railguns...

I especially agree with the stories and stuff, because although the game is really deep right now it just misses background like I also stated in my Outer Regions Post
