Switching Sectors, Alliances Ships, Drones, & Persecutors, Oh My!

I'm player testing the beta on the EAG Test Server.  Found some weirdness to share that I'm not finding here in the Beta Bug forum.

Scenario 1

I'm in my ship and switch to a sector with an alliance ship.

I find myself in the alliance ship after the switch but I am unable to do things like rearrange upgrade modules and reassign turrets, getting the error about permissions.  I can however fly and shoot.  Then the persecutors spawn, but this alliance ship is well sized for the sector.  Then I realize they are attacking my drone, wth?  The drone is destroyed and I find myself back at my repair dock.  So I switch back and this time I arrive in the sector in my drone and I can boost to the alliance ship, sometimes, and get in before the persecutors destroy my drone again.

Weird yeah?  I think I'm only getting this from switching from my ship to an alliance ship sector, but I could be wrong.  It's very repeatable.  Only seems to happen with an alliance ship involved.

Scenario 2

I'm in my ship and I use a gate to enter a sector with an alliance ship.

Here again I find myself in the alliance ship and my ship is in the sector.  Again I can't make module or turret changes in the alliance ship.  My ship doesn't respond to orders and if I try to F and Enter, it says I'm already piloting this craft.  So deselect and hit T, and my drone pops out of my ship, not the alliance ship I was just flying.  Re-Enter either ship and things are back to normal.

This works both ways.  My ship to Alliance and Alliance to My ship.  Very repeatable.  Doesn't occur when only my ships are involved.

Scenario 3

In my drone and switch to a sector with my or alliance ship in a sector where persecutors will spawn.

I switch in and I'm in my drone and it's a flip of the coin if I can get to a ship and get inside before the persecutors spawn and fire a torpedo.  Can't dodge or outrun a torpedo in a drone.

The persecutors wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the torpedoes.  If you want to spawn endless massive waves of persecutors, I'm good with that.  I like the idea of slowing down inward progress, but everytime I'm in my drone, I might not make it to my ship, which would eat them for lunch, and that's just annoying.

So maybe no torpedoes, or no trigger on a drone, or faster drone, or something.

One last thing, which I think is related to Scenarios 1 & 2, every time I enter a sector I get the error message You are already piloting this craft.  So I think there is some switching going on the from 16.1 addition of the alliance sector switching.

Anyways, hope this helps.  Not sure if it's purely the game or something to do with the server setup.  But I'm sure it will get rooted out.

Love the game, keep up the good work.

It also happens to me, and I do not ever use alliance ships (I play singleplayer so I cannot even build alliance ships), so the "You are already piloting this craft" isn't even due to existing alliance ships.

The drone-persecutor thing is also a big bad thing, especially combined with the sector switching that makes players appear in a drone :-\.

Very easy to create scenario: Have a reasonable destination ship, switch and ask the destination ship to escort your drone (natural thing to do to get to it faster), persecutors appear and destroy the drone, then out of sector simulation kills the destination ship which has gone passive from lack of orders :'(.

A hotfix's direly needed to disable persecutor spawning against a drone, or even disable torpedoes from locking onto drones.

Possible developer tip: The second scenario (and maybe the first) seems to stem from a mismatch in the PlayerShip client and server variables.
