Specific crash.

Context and steps followed:

 

I:

 

- zoned into a zone with equipment dock. 2 fleets engaging eachother. Lots of fighters.

- docked with Equipment dock, sold a few modules. Exited game.

- started game next morning, continued selling my stuff. Crashed. Wondered wtf.  THis kept happening across a few loads, so decided to try something different.

- Hauled ass out of the zone before game crashed again.  Managed to zone out. Materialized into new zone. A whole lot of command shell windows popped up in the background outside of game, and vanished again. Must've been debug spam.  Things still went fine. Exited the game to save my progress in the hopes that crash-causing culprit was simply collected by the garbage collector.

- Logged back in. Am a drone at the previous crashy zone. WTF? Game crashed half way as i tried to fly to jumpgate to get the hell out of that hell-zone.

- Conceded it a lost cause and decided to observe the zone to see what was causing the crash. 

 

Observation:    I saved the game quite late into the Fleet battle.  One side had lost most of the ships.  Upon loading in, the last survivor was on retreat. It was a carrier.  Lots of fighters being shot at by other fighters.

 

Carrier got shot down, but fighters were still there, being shot down without a mothership.  When last fighter was shot, game crashed.

 

Is there an E-mail address I may send my save-game to? Cuz it's 100% re-produceable. Usually crashes 1 minute into the game when last carrier dies. Maybe a coincidence?

I bug reported a similar bug.

 

Two enemy factions duking it out with lightning weapons just before the center of the galaxy, it was so laggy/terrible when I got there and I had another play have the same exact experience you had. Respawned in a drone in the sector, had to flee the sector to not crash.

 

Seeing as its not specific to the weaponry, I'd think it has something to do with the faction v faction battles.

My friends,

 

I have found a workaround for sector related crashes, and saved my save game from doom.

 

In order to reset fleet battles and sectors without wiping ANYTHING else, type %AppData% into your explorer window, open "roaming>Avorion>galaxies>[YourSaveGameName]>sectors  and delete and/or move your 2 latest sectors (sort by date modified) somewhere else/ out of the directory.

 

This will force the game to re-generate that sector based on seed as soon as you load your game and load back into your last place crashed.
