Make thrusters function consistently

Dyskos

Suggestion

Please make forward thrusters work consistently when Flight Assist is turned off.

When flight assist is turned off, a ship cannot be slowed down with the forward thrusters. However, the forward thrusters function normally when the ship is stationary or already reversing.

To reproduce what I mean precisely:

  1. Bring ship to a stationary position
  2. Turn off flight assist
  3. Throttle forward slightly
  4. Hold reverse
  5. Profit

You'll notice that the ship will not reverse or negate your forward momentum until your ship slows back down to 0 m/s, at which point the reverse thrusters will suddenly "work" and you'll start accelerating backwards as you would expect. I demonstrate this with my ship in the video attached.

Although the game has since been updated to 2.X since this post, this request is still relevant. It feels silly how forward thrusters simply have no effect at all while the ship is moving a mere 1 m/s in the forward direction. I haven't played this game in over a year (perhaps 2?) because it has annoyed me ever since I realized thrusters work this way. It just makes flying around feel so inconsistent. I'd really like to come back to this game again. I once tried to figure out the modding side of this (if it's even possible to change this aspect), but the documentation just wasn't good enough at the time for me to grok it.

Please consider this. I will even edit the source file myself if necessary. I know C, C++, a bit of Go, Python, and can use whatever this engine is actually made in.

Please.
