  1. Interesting facts, indeed. I tend to design ships to be played with camera placed on bottom of it, therefore placing turrets on bottom front of the ship, so i dont get my HUD overlapped by my ship, i adjust the camera from time to time when the ship get bigger, in order having only the top of the screen overlapped with the bottom ship's view. So far it does pretty good, altough it can be a bit tricky on dense asteroid fields when suddently changing direction. I have to get myself used to those automatic turret features, as for now i do only rely on bottom to top full "manual targetting" damage cone wich is more than enough to take care of those pirate/alien ships. Thats why my designs could land on a planet too, if ever, they are (almost) flat on bottom... :p So i can almost go with whatever shape i want, as long as bottom is flat, the only downside, as i stated, is that if the designed ship gets too large or too tall, it can smash things (or get smashed by :p ) without seeing it coming. Here is the picture of my first efficient design doing so: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=854771403 So yes its a bit triangular in global shape but it is mostly for aesthetics. Here is a picture of the same ship, but upgraded toward being modular from either side but front. This design remains prototype, as i'm currently designing a way bigger ship that i've no decent picture of it, it is still work in progress and is not related at all with this design (beside sloped armor looking). http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=859273094 Edit: When i designed the first iteration of it (first picture) i had already in mind, that this little rammer ship could become the central command of the ship, like a cockpit.
  2. http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,830.0.html is where you can find the mod. I havent installed it yet, but i sure will, the /price command is what we are looking for. Good job at designing those ships, battlefleet gothic: armada ahead! :p
  3. This is a "fake" camera move. Altought useful in some situations where you cant see whats below the left windows (the one with scaling), it is not a free camera, wich is sometimes really lacking. Especially when you are designing big ships.. So i guess the anwser to OP is still no, there is no way to move the camera beside block focus (F Key by default)
  4. Money and ressources arent issue there. The issue is, that there is no safe spot to quietly design your dreadnaught.. I didnt bothered with trade yet, altough i found a legendary trade scanner that gives me routes 12 sectors around, wich is really powerful tool indeed. But it wont spare me time to design a big ship..
  5. Well i could.. if it was smaller and if i had precise numbers about how many minerals the design would need.. This is kinda work in progress mining here and there when i deplete the trinium stock so creative mode not allowed here as i couldnt get all minerals needed at once. I will put this luxury miner battleship on creation section once done, with true mineral and cash cost for it... And thats a lot (at least for minerals) ^^ So far best way is to jump in an empty sector, with some luck it stays quiet for at least 20-30 mins.. Edit: Building a defensive ship just to defend against ships that are higher tiered isnt good idea neither as i need the minerals for the main one and titanium based warships wont do the job, its better, safer and cheaper to jump away.. Integrity fields do their job at preventing the (yet) non armoured sections of the ship being destroyed but i wont bring it in combat until its finished..
  6. Hello, I'm currently redesigning my whole ship, wich is a big one, and i wished to know, if there is some "quiet" place in the universe where you dont get assaulted by random pirates/aliens? I tried anything so far, such as jumping in "empty" sectors, sit in a coreworld, ect.. I've got 2 issues with that: 1) Performance is deseacreasing when fight occurs, wich i can bear while i'm fighting, but i cant when i'm building and far from the fight. Lag in building mode is not cool. 2) My designs (i shall post a few of them sooner or later on creation section, when i will have finished this current ship) are all armored, and precise slopped armor designs. Needless to say that i put the armor layer on the outside of the ship, obviously. So i'm left without armor (but shields) for a long time of the design, leaving me vulnerable to shield piercing shots and then repair costs... So did you find a way to take your time in ship design, beside having manually set a emergency jumpoint at the moment I arrive in a sector i tought would be "quiet" ? Or shall i endlessly and randomly jump everywhere until i finished design my ship?
  7. Hello, All is in title, could you please remove the shield's blur effect while in builder mode? It is pretty annoying to get all the ship blured every 20s when designing precise shapes.. I already know that i put a shield on the ship, and in case i might forgot, i can see ship's shield total HP in top right corner just below global ship's HP.. Thanks you for this great game!
  8. I found my first trinium scrapyard today, and so far i find the salvage licence interesting but pretty cheap in regard to price/benefit. 60k credits for 1h farming is really cheap when i look at what i've looted and salvaged so far. I did nearly 50k tritium and iron, 20k titanium and naonite in 2 hours on 2 differents scrapyard that where one jump from each other (so same tier). Not to mention of all the loot, i came in there with no salvaging turret (or maybe a couple of crappy one that i've then equiped that gave me more turrets to loot ect... ) and i left with half the tritium i would have ever need to create my new naonite/tritium ship. So it is really a jackpot sector when you find one, i only left from there when swarmed by a huge alien assault.. And the warning is short but if you stop when warned no huge rep loss just dont be a lootwhore... i only lost around 30 rep due to timer ending, as i stopped salvage once it went time out.. So loosing 50k rep just meant that you didnt stopped from salvaging... And at first timer end i was using 8 salvage turrets + 10 weaps..
  9. Ok after a few testing on newest beta version, performance is way better, there is still some (minor) freeze during battle involving 8+ ships. No more crash, but I didnt meet the "sector attack" again yet. Hardware issue is probably on CPU usage, since toning up or down graphical settings doesnt improve nor desecrease performance, altough i dont use bloom nor shadows, as i know i have an average (but very performant for its price) GCard. I notice minor freeze too when there is a lot of debris in the sector. I suspect their light effect (shiny one that we can see from very far, but not the shiny effect of loot/res that i didnt pick up) to be the cause. Maybe toning down a bit the range at wich we can see this effect can help improving performance? Also maybe a setting for reducing lightning effect could be created in parameters, so either low end configs or top beast computers users could set the setting manually? This beta batch is very promising in regard of performance! :) Edit: I finally used my current save game as i didnt wanted to start again from scratch yet, so no more issue with factions already at war before i went to newest beta version, i went trough a wormhole to get on other edge, similar tier, of the galaxy. ^^ Edit2: I had only one ctd on this beta version, but i dont think its related to it. The crash happened in builder mode but i was unable to reproduce it (i was extending my ship). No part were lost, and i think my ship was in the state i left it at the crash.
  10. In other terms, a good design for a combat ship that is not planned to mine at all, is to use the unarmed turret slot for salvaging lasers then. So far my design are combat miner ship so no room for salvager..
  11. Ok thanks I shall then start a new (beta) game then to refresh all those parameters! Thank you very much for quick anwser, you're doing very good in customer listening i really like when devs are really commited with their game comunity! :) Edit: I'm obviously willing to be part of that beta process, otherwise I wouldnt have bought "early access" game..
  12. Hi there. I already tried to alert devellopers about game being unplayable due to the constant "sector under attack" feature (altough i personnaly dont call it a feature anymore but a game breaking issue). It takes forever to reload a game that has crashed to sector attack, even after a 2 day break of the game. So i'm off playing this game, waiting for it to be vastly more optimized. It is just unbearable to wait 10 min loading the game after a freeze to crash bug due to too many polygons fighting each other, without any player involvment. I really hope this is a 1st priority to fix this lagfest. I cant imagine playing this seriously, especially in multiplayer (wich i obviously didnt tried yet) if i crash every time i jump to a new sector because AIs are fighting each other for no real purpose beside destroying stations docks that will never reappears... Last try to reload game lead to 7min waiting (without being able to do anything else on my computer or crash again) and then sector attack still underway and crash again. That was the too much crash! See you at next patch (or until sectors attacks are removed, or until I'm getting rich and can buy an army supercalculator computer.. ) this game is very promising i really want it to be successful, but atm without a competion beast computer its barely playable. So i'm off for a few months until things get optimized... Great work so far, i'm really confident that the dev team will handle those game breaking issues, I really like supporting indie gaming, as long as i can play the games so far! :) Edit: ofc i could send the logs if needed, but i'm pretty sure you know where the issue is (i already stated my config on some other topic that got merged to another one i5-6600, 8GB DDR4 RAM, GeForce GTX 950), lightning effects mostly i think.. You get all my psychological support to help you smashing those bugs and optimizing the whole game! :) Needless to say i toned down all graphical settings to minimal values, but it doesnt change anything when "sector crash erm attack" happens.
  13. Purchase 100 copy of it (or even many more) and give them to your friends, friends of your friends, ect.. :p
  14. I think what saved my ass was the 0.25 collision damage setting. But i also think 271 m/s and "only" around 5k hp is way too small to be efficient at ramming. But again, we still no clue about the in game math formula for ramming damage. When i killed that ship, i was flying around 1000 m/s and my ship had around 200k HP. Due to repairs costs, i didnt tried to ram anything else, beside finishing some weakest pirate ships that would have died anyway from my guns alone. Oh i also did some ramming on wreckages, pretty efficient, but you dont loot much.. I wouldnt recommand it as an efficient tactic for sure, especially on full collision damage settings: repairs cost way more that what you can earn by one shotting a random ship, if you manage to kill it, be it either time and/or ressources for repairs, and it seems that on full collision dmg setting, its a fast way to die and would cost even more in repairs! ^^
  15. Indeed! Integrity field + good armor + lower collision damage + full speed = instakill the lunatic! :p
