  1. Then the files are no longer stored in text form, which is readable by humans, but rather in binary form. You won't be able to open and read binary files as easily. Just try the ingame chat solutions posted by the other people :)
  2. No problem, welcome to the forums! You might want to check out the Wiki if you have more questions. It's still quite bare, but you should find answers to some of the most common questions there :)
  3. You need to equip a salvaging laser. It works like the mining laser but its only effective on wreckages. Similarly mining lasers are not effective on wreckages.
  4. Right now, you could use the script from this thread and maybe modify it some more for your needs.
  5. There is a thread in the bug section already, where it got noticed and it will be investigated. But the multiplayer issues probably have priority. Edit: Merged topics
  6. It's just a cosmetic effect. So it's only visual that there are four projectiles fired by the turret. You should primarily look for the stats.
  7. You can wait until pirates spawn and destroy the blocker. this will be probably you only option till the next patch. and that will most likely only come after the player dropping is fixed.
  8. There are smuggling stations in some hidden sectors, you have to use those. To find them just have to keep exploring some more. It might be the case that you have to move closer to the center or to the edges of the galaxy. To find hidden sectors you have to equip a system upgrade with the 'Deep Scan Range' property. It should be a scanner upgrade.
  9. You have to destroy the Hyperspace Blocker ship to jump away, it takes about 10-20 seconds after the destruction before you can jump. You dont have to destroy the head hunters. You currently cannot outrun them. The jamming works in the whole sector.
  10. There will be some changes to the integrity fields, but I don't know if that would cover your problems: Ship hitpoints depend on the block types, their sizes and material. Armor adds a lot more HP than hull. Integrity makes blocks indestructible, but as you said that makes armor a little superflous. Armor does protect from penetrating shots, such as railguns though. But we'll make it so that the blocks take less damage, instead of none at all.
  11. If you have a mouse and a driver which support it, then you could try to create a macro which toggles left-click.
  12. try to cover the ships with integrity fields from the integrity field generators. Everything in the field will be treated as one block and they will only be destroyed if the combined health of all of them reaches 0. Try to put only turrets of the same type in there. That give you a turret of the same type as output. Also the amount of input matters for the output. Input 3 turrets and there is an 60% chance to get a higher rarity one, 80% for 4 turrets as input and 100% if you input 5 turrets. That should be the probabilities, if I remember correctly. I don't know about the properties of the output turrets or their stats. Those could be randomly generated like normal turret drops. If you are jumping to a sector which is out of the direct reach of AI ships, then they won't follow you. You will have to equip them with hyperspace upgrades or hyperspace cores. That is I bug and i think koonschi said it will be fixed in the next patch but I am not certain.
  13. It's also more in line with real rockets/space ships, where you have main engines for acceleration and reaction control system thrusters for rotation control. Added bonus in the game is the break thrust of the thrusters, so that you don't necessarily have to 180° turn every time to reduce the speed.
  14. This would only work if you don't cover your ship in armor. If your ships have the weak blocks hidden by armor then they should not get damaged until the armor blocks are destroyed. Also most ships have a single large integrity field and this could result in a break in the ship at a point where nothing got hit.
  15. Wow, this is amazing! Great job :D But I think that it is probably pretty hard to steer and especially to stop. Though I guess the 'real' one is not much better at this :D
  16. This might be an issue with the integrated graphics chip on you CPU. I have experienced it on my notebook as well but I can fortunately play on my desktop. If you are on a notebook which has a dedicated graphics card then you could try setting a rule in the driver settings to force Avorion to run on the 'real' graphics card. Steps for Nvidia would be: [*]Open Nvidia Control Panel [*]Select Manage 3D-Settings from the list on the left [*]Select Program Settings [*]Pick Avorion from the list of programs or select the executable from your steam install directory: <Steam install>/SteamApps/common/Avorion/bin/Aviorion.exe [*]Select it to always use the dedicated graphics card from the dropdown menu[\li] Hope that might help you
  17. I have been noticing for some time now that there are some hiccups(?) on the host of the forums/website/wiki, where the site appears unavailable for a few (15-30) seconds and then is available again. I've had this happen when previewing posts or changes on the wiki and it nearly cost me a post on here. Although it also happened if I just try to access the domain. Is there some kind of DDoS protection which cuts connections from some IPs after a certain amount of requests with an attached cooldown? Or are there other kinds of bugs which could cause this?
  18. Hey dude, welcome to the forums! Here are some answers: Currently asteroids do not respawn, but you could buy some resources from a resource depot if you don't want to fly too far. I like this idea as well. Maybe even add a "bridge" block to which you could tie your camera. But right now you can only zoom out or move it in one plane. There are missiles in the game, also guided ones, but they you will have to get closer to the center of the galaxy to get them Yes, you will be able to mod the game, there is even a subforum for it. But right now it is not much explored and the documentation is also not complete. Edit: Ninja'd. I should preview my posts more often...
  19. Is there a way to "hard reset" the achievements, or maybe just some of them? Or maybe contact someone from steam if there is a problem with the achievements for Avorion which was not present a few months ago? Also, have you tried to get the achievements on a fresh steam account just with the game as you can get yourself keys? Maybe on a different machine as well?
  20. Now that the game is out and Steam stats should be working, it seems to me that achievements are still not working properly for a lot of people. Looking at the global achievement stats it appears to be only a very small percentage of players have been able to achieve the small destruction achievements, like Self Defense or First Encounters. Also the Shortcut achievement has a completion rate of 0.3%, which seems very unlikely to me.
  21. Could we restrict contributions at least to registered users on the wiki? There is already someone who has been doing edits without relevance on some pages, which had to be reverted. Having to register might be enough to keep some people from doing something like this.
  22. Nah, its not that bad. Just had a few days during the holidays where I wasn't at my normal PC due to traveling :D I just had another very long session, including the great feeling of looking at the clock and thinking "Welp, another hour gone. And I have just been mining a bit and fighting of some pirates".
  23. 1366x768 is also my laptops screen resolution and this would also certainly be an issue for me, if I'd got avorion to work on there. But I can't really blame the game for that as windows decides to bluescreen every time I try to use the dedicated graphics card and the intel chip is not yet supported and also not very powerful...
