  1. Again very irritating for a sec or two to see the Frigate, and this time i KNEW they are InGame Models ;D Stunning, very cool, Carrier maybe? Always my fav, even tried to make one back in SE, couldnt finish due to lag: [spoiler=totally unrelated pic together with my Marine Frigate] would love to see what you can come up with here in Avorion!
  2. Crying... much crying... Early Morning, sitting in front of my PC, listening to nice music, happily living my life, as suddenly i noticed one of those Windows-Info-Bubbles on my Taskbar showing up for half a sec, talking about "Defect-Index-Volume-Something", then Bluescreen, then Reboot... or at least TryToReboot... long story short, System Partition lost, reinstalled Windows, now i'm still sitting here preparing Drivers, Service Packs and stuff and... yes, still crying... why oh why werent my shipfiles saved in the Steam Folder, safe on the Games' E:\-Partition? :'( or why didnt i backed up ALL of them recently? >:( or why the hell does my hardrive such things to me? ??? Cya all & fly safe, gonna be busy a bit getting progress back... tl;dr Dont forget to backup your files!!
  3. Jumpdrive-Module installed? Things got messed up here when i started using, i think it has to do with its ability to shorten jumptime and energy needed....
  4. IMO if the spinning itself would be adressed, like in less recoil for the recieving ship, i'd be fine with any stickship, for now its indeed not easy to fight, but not impossible also, i for myself try to aim for the middle point of the spinning wheel... positive sideeffect: a spinning ship gets trouble flying and aiming, so use this for your advantage!
  5. things that helped me alot with pieces not going where ME want them to go, not the grid: - your mentioned scaling down was good until some point, as you pointed out alrdy. But in the process i learned something i'd like to call "helper-block"... like trying to place a 0.25x0.3 thick block onto a size 3x3 block and just cant get it to allign to the edge? place another full 3x3 block onto the surface, then... well, pictures say more than thousand words they say, no? ^,.,^ if you try to allgin on top... ... or on the side... ...just place a little helper block: ...oh, and what if the helper block dont allign? get a helper for the helper: just delete the little goblins after they did their job and there you go! ^,.,^ works fine for every scale as long as you have something near to get "your grid" from... if not, make something, you can always delete it afterwards... basically the editor allows for any thinkable shape, which is great, isnt it? (...yes folks, i know about the pyramid-problem-thingy, i said "basically"! ^,.,^) oh, and yes, 0.25 is the smallest grid i consider "reasonable", everything else is freeroam IMO! mirroring and especially the build modes like Local/Global Grid and Place-to-middle-Thingy (nicknamed "Lazy-Mode" by me ^,.,^) helped alot also, we had another talk about that topic here: Click me hard! i guess others can add more, and this forum itself is plentyful of info, just take a look around yourself, i especially love the Creative Subforum, tons of beautiful .xml's to learn from and lots of helpful ppl around to ask stuff!
  6. i agree sticking too closely to a single method might limit you more than help you, and the possibilitys on the poll show the different approaches i tried out overtime... seems also be consens outside-first is common technique for replica building, while from-inside-out seems more to be a stats-directed approach like mentioned Cargo Haulers... ty all for the reply's so far, much interesting insight, just as intended, might be useful for new or uncreative players on how to get started aswell... Ooh, never knew, nice2know!
  7. Basically just curious, wondered while replacing the coreblock of yet another ship if other ppl wonder about the same things as me, or have a totally different approach... Feel free to comment your choice below!
  8. BREAKING-NEWS: Revision 2 of the FX-4 PT & CC ! As you can see, a vast improvement while keeping the aestetics... a bit more fragile and energy hungry now, but superior in any other stat to its precursor... the PT is even cheaper than before :-D Links alrdy updated, so take them for a spin around your local roid belt and judge for yourself! ;) EDIT: some of mentioned new pretty pics:
  9. Almost felt from my chair... ;D :D ;D
  10. OH sh**! The first 2 pictures i first thought its the originals you build from, then i realized it IS your ship! :o Amazing work! Very well done replica! Wooow... 8)
  11. Main Post updated with a nice little (if ~1.5 Billion (!) Credits Insurance-Cost still count as 'little'...) piece of RP-Background :P Time to finish the still waiting Archangel- and Vengeance-Husks... EDIT: Suprisingly i just rescalled the Lair-Class to 1/4th on seven-parsec and got a pretty nice 8-Slot ship out!
  12. "Pardon, Miss... could you please repeat the 'too big to fit'-part?" This one much beautiful!

The Nebular looks pretty neat, reminds me of the Earth Destroyers with the rotating middle section from Babylon 5... My fav together with the MFF-101 so far, and a nice example what a decent paintjob can do to a ship on the 2 screenys of it! ;D
  14. Reminds me somehow of the inside of my PC Case... just better armed ^,.,^ Nice ship, i wouldnt say its ugly...
  15. Time to share all those amazing creations as simple as eating pancakes!
  16. Oh, wow! Dear Folks, i cant describe how amazing it is to see these pictures... copying and modifying the ACI Ships and putting them here was intented for exactly this reason, but seeing the resulting ships feels... satisfying? Proud Fox is proud of your creations! :o And yes, the very thick hull comes from using a 1x1x1 Block Base-Size (2x2x2 on the Capitals and 0,5 sidelenght on the PT) to recreate the shapes more easily... definetly another point in need of improvement. Now that sucks to hear! :'( Well, at least you have some pictures save here for reference, if you want you ppl might use this place to upload your .xml files aswell for backup if you dont want to create an own topic... totally agreed! ^,.,^ and for progress: the more i build on it the more the word >unreasonable< comes to mind... i mean, seriously unreasonable (not that "reasonable" was the plan here anyways :-D), this is getting a damn big ship: The Battleship looks beside it like putting the Broadsword besides a Seraph Cruiser, and as soon as i try to get her full on screen for a nice Beautyshot the LOD kicks in! >:( Size of my mousecursor if fully zoomed out... if there was a 16th slot, i guess this one gets the 18th.... and thats just the top half yet! Fun building her anyways, so lets see where this leads to...
  17. .exe? You most definetly got an add, downloaded the .zip file all fine from there! Using an addblocker? Truth tho its a bit confusing...
  18. "Your idea of a donut-shaped universe is intriguing, Homer. I may have to steal it." - Stephen Hawking, The Simpsons."
  19. Haha, thats right, basically anything thats still grey isnt used at all, since i painted them afterwards, you can easily replace them with stuff... justified it to myself with lowered mass and a good fleet-overall feeling in terms of balance. But yeah, truth is they arent min/maxed in any way, i tried to stick to the template ships as close as possible thruster-wise for example (the Diligent even imitating SE's H2-Engine-Placement), so they behave a bit sluggish for Avorion... but that and smoothing out the blocky SE-shape is intended for their next iteration, for now i try to finish anything basic i can work with... Updating the early ships to higher materials helped alot, especially volume-heavy hullblocks replaced with trinium was quite noticeable... the very same reason made me decide against Armor: the Dagger/Rapier should avoid combat anyways and the bigger ones have shield for basic protection, i plan to give the battlecruiser at least armored framework and the battleship (which doesent care for speed, she comes to stay!) will feature full armored hull... also always upgraded brake-thrusters to highest available material! otherwise i was quite satisfied, the errors that happend in my current playthrough were definetly the pilots fault, not the ships! lol, poor docking ports ^,.,^ but true, much blocks are merely there for aestetic reasons... shiny bling-bling for pretty foxes important! Would feel wrong without Flightbridge, tactical or financial reasons aside... Speaking of "tactical and financial reasons aside...", not much progress on testing (or actually building) the Cruiser in Survival game, got a >little< distracted (no pun intended ^,.,^): Ladys, Gentlemen and asexual Visitors: The FX-4 "Lair"-Class Mobile HQ! Its already large enought to be seen in fully zoomed out Strategic View! Compensation? Who said that?? And yes, thats a "Dagger" PatrolBoat trying to dock into the hangar (if it just was a thing :'() on the 2nd screeny... Tests with actual fighters were semi-successful... they are able to get out with no probs, docking is possible, sadly more or less a factor of luck >:( But it looks so nice (IMO) :'( Oh, and i learned that you can manually dock your fighters, it says "destroyed", but thats just because you left your ship forcefully, they are stored into the hangar nevertheless! the smallish grey one on the first screeny's background is going to become the Battleship (15-Slots are aimed for that one alrdy), left of it the Archangel Carrier, on its right the Battlecruiser (i will make better pics of em the comming days). Soo, i keep you folks updated, fly safe and cya, gotta make a thruster section...
  20. Me loves the little fact that you actually see which planet you are approaching through a jumpgate! makes it feel a bit more consistent IMO... and aye, they make (made?) beautiful scenery:
  21. After you copy em and holding the blocks "in hand" press X- or C-Button (or was it X and Y respectivly Z on US Layout?) to mirror your current selection without placing beforehand!
  22. From the icon i would guess it switches to "autofire" if you dont have a current target, otherwise its "attack target"... just a guess tho, cant say for sure... ??? EDIT: Should have put it: 'suppose to "attack target"', but i guess you know AI in general is a rather simple one yet...
  23. WOOW!! Looks great, amazing detailwork! Definetly would like to take a closer look, but dat chinese webside? me using and recommenting dropbox.com or file-upload.net for sharing .xml's until we get Steam Workshop for that
  24. now thats some pretty a...aft-section! Nicely done, looks pretty cool, but since i never played Elite:Dangerous i dont get it with those bumpers, on the first picture you posted they were almost invinsible, and my first thought was "why the hell he added them?", then i realized they were always there... Surly would look damn sexy without them, but thats just my view on it, nevertheless great looking ship so far!
  25. Simple yet not bald, brings a good heavy freighter feeling over... nicely greebled, pretty Flightbridge, even antennaes... ilike! Oh, and i recognice those green ones in the background from somewhere... ;D
