  1. Thats interesting. Could it be there is a problem on windows server? Currently I can not set up a server on linux, but planning to do this for some testing.
  2. Please send us the client logs of a pc with 100% memory usage. It is also helpful if you try the same with a new galaxy. If this works maybe your save files are corrupted. I think you can set the Avorion version to last one, not the latest. Watch Avorion beta settings. But this is not the solution...
  3. When a sector file gets corrupted where you logged out and you log in again, your ship will be restored from player files. Please tell us if this happened or send us the server log files. This causes the ship owner to spawn in drone and his ship will be anywhere else in the sector. This can happen sometimes, but usely it does not result in the loss of ships. Without logfiles it is hard to find the reason though.
  4. Use hyperspace modules that reduces the cooldown. If you got 3 modules with -34% each, the cooldown is always 0sec. In the early game its not that easy, but thats part of the game imo. If you wanna try to mod it, watch the documentation in steam install directory. Scripting API is well documented. You also could download mods to get some examples.

  6. Your thougths are not wrong, but it would kill game balancing. We already have shield penetrating pulse cannons, thats good, but when all projectiles completely ignore shields it makes all non-projectile weapons useless and koonschi had to rebalance the whole game. To me the weaps are currently well balanced. I just think the pulse cannons should be a little stronger, but howerver, this could be modded if really required.
  7. In vanilla game you can not automate trade routes. At all I agree, there should be a little more content for endgame. But there are some mods that could help you to produce goods and to trade it wich makes the endgame much more interesting :) Out of sector production: http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,1322.0.html Not compatible with current game version, but its relatively easy to make it working. This mod simulates out of sector production for every sector, even for all npc factories (vanilla game only keeps up to 5 player secors alive, all other sectors does not produce). So you can provide npc factories with goods and they produce. Goods hauler: http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,2896.0.html This mod makes you able, to automate trading goods between your own factories in a sector. Complex3s: http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,3268.0.html Combine many stations into one big station. Sadly it is not compatible with Avorion 0.12 yet, the creator of this mod is working on it.
  8. Hi, the way you tried should work fine... did you use the same Avorion version on both pc? Copying the galaxy folder is the common way transfering/backing up a galaxy. The ships folder is not required for that, it only contains the saved ships that you can load it in ship editor.

  11. Hi, I can not prove it but I think there is any kind of network issue. However, this does not seem to happen on all servers... but we got performance issues on our server too. http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,3578.0.html Did some testing. At all it looks like there is any network issue, but it does not prove that there is a network issue in Avorion. Other games on the server work fine. It is astonishing that the performance of Avorion was improved with the update (try to play offline, it works fine), but the performance on your server got even worse... Our server: i7 2600K (8 core) 16gb ram Windows server 2016 Wich os do you use on your server?

  15. This mod still works on current beta. I just modified it to also work for caiptained ships when using Goods Hauler mod http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,2896.0.html and for npc ships. This should fix the bug, tha npc ships push stations away (not tested yet). Maybe i will release it if someone needs it.
  16. Does it mean you dont have a root server? A root server is the only way to host an Avorion server without too many lags. Worker threads should be set to the amount of cores your cpu got, but at least it usely does not change too much.   17. It's true, I only took one single situation in my tests. But I saw the same issues on all servers I played on. You always get huge lags in faction wars, and maybe if you kill the boss, also a lot of other people are talking about similar problems. That means there are huge performance problems on (almost) all servers, or at least on a lot of servers. But who experienced the same issues when playing offline? This seems to work fine, even if the hardware is worse then the hardware of the lagging server. When I reproduced situations on my pc, wich caused huge lags on a server, it worked well, although the client took most of my hardware ressources. What is the reason that you do not get any problem when playing offline? Ofc im not saying too that its wrong what you say. Thats why we are here, we want to share our experience to improve the game :) I also don't want to to say that this is the only problem. Yes i know, i said in the first post of the network performance topic: This was very bad worded... and it's not true that it is the only problem. But I'm sure it is a problem.
  18. I didn't want to say you had, just wanted to say it to Geisterrabe as he thought it would cause lags. Btw... wich issues did the renaming of zink cause? I could not find a related topic to this.
  19. VM (virtuelle Maschine) ist einfach ausgedrückt ein Betriebssystem (z.B. Windows) was nicht auf einem Computer direkt ausgeführt wird, sondern innerhalb eines Programms. So können mehrere Systeme vermietet werden obwohl es nur einen reellen Rechner gibt. Dies geht natürlich zu Lasten der Performance. Ich vermute so (oder so ähnlich) arbeitet G-Portal. Kannst du ganz gut am Preis erkennen: um die 10€ / Monat ist nie ein kompletter root server. Diese fangen ab ca. 40€ oder 50€ an. Dieser Fehler dürfte dann eigentlich keine Lags verursachen.
  20. I agree. When my ship gets damaged I always wait until the mechanics repaired the hull to 100%, then i hit repair. A button to repair just the destroyed blocks for the same price, as if the hull were 100% was great. Ofc it would leave the hull damaged, it would just restore the destroyed blocks.
  21. Der server versucht nicht die Datei zu speichern, sondern sie auszuführen, bzw eine Funktion innerhalb der Datei auszuführen. Beim Aufruf der Funktion gibt es einen Fehler. Sind Mods auf dem Server installiert? Läuft der Server auf 0.12 beta oder 0.11? Wenn keine Mods installiert sind: Lasse alle Dateien auf Fehler überprüfen. Wenn Mods installiert sind: Überprüfe alle mods ob sie mit der genutzten Avorion Version kompatibel sind. Für mich sieht es jedoch so aus, als hätten die Fehlermeldungen in dem Bild nichts mit auftretenden lags zu tun, aber das kann ich nicht sicher sagen, ist eher ein Bauchgefühl. Ich kenne G-Portal nicht... bieten die Managed Server oder nur VM's an? Avorion in einer VM zu betreiben ist aufgrund der performance z.Z. nicht zu empfehlen und würde wahrscheinlich die Lags erklären.
  22. But how comes these problems only exist online? Performance is very great when you play offline as you can see in the topic: Try this by your own: find a sector with faction wars wich causes huge lags. Then download the galaxy and try offline. The lags will be gone. But why when its not the network? When we run other games beside Avorion on our server, the other games get performance problems too when someone jumps into a faction war.
  23. This looks to me like you are playing >0.12 beta? Maybe this mod is only compatible with 0.11.x, and needs to be adjusted for 0.12.x.
  24. I agree, if you play vanilla. With some modding this can be solved (offtopic here, I know, but lets talk about its functions). http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,1322.0.html This mod also makes all npc stations working, it does not matter if the sector is active or not. Imo we need this in vanilla game. No need to keep all sectors active, just calculate missing production everytime, a sector is getting active. It makes trading much more interesting.
  25. At all I am not surprised that files get corrupted when the hard drive runs out of space. A working hardware (that also means free space on hard drive) is always required by the software to work fine. Not a bug, and no way to restore it, im sorry. Once I also lost 2 weeks of play time by a maxed hard drive... now I take care that auto backups of the galaxy does not waste too much space (wich took the hdd to 100%, but the admin deleted the backups before we figured out the live galaxy is broken) ;D Shit happens
