  1. My Predefined shapes window is full of... regular single cubes/rectangles. I can't seem to Delete them or do anything to free up space and copy-paste something meaningful. Any advice?
  2. Match Block function gives you same size blocks but that is not in fact what leads to a proper round shape. A perfect octagon (or any perfect polygon for that matter) has all of it's faces the same length. When you place a Triangle "Edge" brick, you are specifying the height/width of it but not the actual angled line's length. You might remember from math class, this angled side is called the Hypoteneuse (i probably spelled it wrong) The length of the Hypoteneuse "H" is equal to the square root of the sum of the width squared and the length squared. H = Sqrt ( L^2 + W^2 ) In the case of a 2x2 Triangle, the Hypoteneuse works out to be: H = Sqrt ( 2 ^ 2 + 2 ^ 2) H = Sqrt ( 4 + 4 ) H = Sqrt ( 8 ) H = 2.8284 That's why the rectangles need to be those funny numbers when the Triangles are still simply "2x2" in Avorion terms.
  3. Hi folks, I would like to get the community to explore building round objects. There has been one excellent example where you can see a few curves in Capnbub's CB3 ship (the bridge) and his CB30 ship (bridge + lower-front half donuts with glow) Take a look here: https://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,1013.0.html I would like to see two things: 1) A User Guide in the User Guides section for things like Circles, Cylinders, Domes or Spheres, Torus... 2) Tools inside the game's Build Mode added as features to assist in this. I have done the most basic thing so far, I figured out the math for a proper octagon where all sides are equal. Take a look at the image below, it assumes you start with a normal 2 x 2 starting cube for your ship or station. I hope to inspire a great thing here :) This is important for truly beautiful ships and stations.
  4. Presenting my first ship, 1. HMS Renown, Battlecruiser of the Royalist Kingdom Constructed in the fleet programme of 2785, Her Majesty's Starship Renown is a sight to behold despite her age. Her top speed is impressive for a ship of her mass while acceleration and maneuverability are rather moderate. Renown is easily recognized apart from other royal navy capital ships because of her two ventral engines. Renown's compliment consists of approximately 448 enlisted officers and crew. Renown has participated in only one significant battle: "The Action off Badlands Gamma Five" Mostly a mix of Iron and Titanium, contains a large Naonite Shield Generator. This was my first attempt at an "aesthetic" ship in Avorion's Creative Mode. I would like to give credit to Volovov, I assimilated his engine port style.
  5. I was having the same thoughts... in-game I looked at the requirements for a Turret Factory and I found myself overwhelmed, no idea where to get the parts. I looked around and found an Ore mine but I have no idea how many steps there are between Ore to Laser Chamber to Turret or if Ore even leads up to it.
  6. I think it's alright if they don't ever respawn in Singleplayer, but how does this work in Multiplayer? I wouldn't want to log in to a server where all the resource asteroids are already gone. I mean I don't mind a few hyperspace jumps or something, but you know... it has to be reasonable.
  7. I would like to chime in here. This is my first post and I have just over 10 hours played. I saved up 10K Titanium and tried building a ship that could withstand some combat. It had a top speed of 600, braking 30, and performed reasonably. Weaponry was 2 Double Chain Guns with Burst/Overheat. It eventually met it's end when I tried to take on a whole group of pirates. I destroyed more than half of them and then died without warning. I did find it lame that the integrity field didn't let me see any damage until at one point I was simply dead and that was it. I really think integrity fields should "run out" and allow you to begin losing bricks. This would be a compromise to not punish detailed ships but allow the feel of "she can't take much more captain". As it is, it's devolved into a guessing game as to when retreat becomes the best option. I worry that this would be the same as Shields, so I'm not sure if my proposal is the best option. Warning messages would be another reasonable way to deal with this. Or have a bar for hull integrity perhaps.
