[FPS] +Logs Qualified PC Underperforming

Hello,

 

Love the game so far (~60hrs), but I'm having some issues with my framerate, sitting at ~20-25 in empty sectors, ~3-9 during faction conflicts, and ~1 when fighting a large group of enemies, especially if my shields are taking high damage, I noticed it most during the AI boss, as it's pretty difficult to aim at the fragments, and it took me about an hour because of the fps issue. I run For Honor, GTA5, and Battlefield1 on ultra at 3440x1080 and get 80+fps with no frame drops in those games.

 

My CPU Core1 hangs out at about 80% (the others are sub 40), and my GPU is sitting at ~20C and 10% usage. Ram is sitting around 20% usage

Operating System:

Windows 10 Professional 64bit

 

CPU Intel Core:

i7-6700K @4.00GHz

 

GPU:

NVidia GeForce GTX 1080 -  (I don't have an integrated graphics card)

Drivers tried: 378.92(Newest), 368.25(Old), 376.33(Very stable driver that has fixed things for me in other games), 378.78(Used when I first started playing).

 

32GB Ram

 

 

 

I tried some routine and game-specific solutions I found on the web including:

 

 

Starting a new game.

Testing fullscreen, windowed, windowed borderless.

Playing with steam in offline mode.

Putting all settings to low, restarting PC, putting all settings to high, restarting, and again.

Taking off Supersampling.

Turning off steam overlay.

Playing in a lower resolution.

Finally, scouring the forums, reddit, and steam and coming up short outside of Drivers, so I changed drivers 3x, once just getting most recent driver while playing, and 2 older drivers to  try to fix this problem.

In a brand new galaxy in the drone I get 30-40FPS, in an empty system in a Ship I get 261fps, so to my estimation something is happening when stations, asteroids, NPC Ships etc are introduced into the mix, and whenever blocks are destroyed it drops down to ~1FPS.  My main Ship for my playthrough has some Z-Axis issues where parts of the ship flash through the hull (only on their parent block, and the only issue is with light creating pieces ie: generators).

 

 

 

 

I hope this wall of text wasn't off-putting, I just love the game and want to enjoy it to the fullest and get the word out on how to fix the issues I'm having.

 

A few things I saw in the logs:

 

 

Once per log:

GL DBG: MEDIUM PERFORMANCE API 131218: Program/shader state performance warning: Vertex shader in program 495 is being recompiled based on GL state.

 

A few times:

Warning, can't keep up, skipping 1 frames... (Infrequently)

 

Repeatedly spammed ad nauseum:

GL DBG: HIGH TYPE_ERROR API 1281: GL_INVALID_VALUE error generated. View frustum must not have a zero values of: (right-left), (top-bottom), or (zFar-zNear).
