Multiplayer loading screen stuck

I hosted a server on my server. I literally bought the game twice so I could do it because the dedicated server command line was entirely too much work.

 

So I host a game on my server on steam on my server account... My clan joins.. we play for 2 days... but as servers do it needs to be restarted... I restart... now no one can join the game but me...

 

Everyone connects.. the server shows them connecting, their ships even show up in the sectors they last logged in... but for them..it just says loading.. forever.

 

 

I can actually join via IP and it loads for me...

 

 

Things ive tried

 

Turning off steam authentication

 

Listing server as public

 

Restarting the server

 

Restarting the router

 

Reassigning internal IP on server from 10.0.0.1 to 10.0.0.* (2,3,4) and re port forwarding the UDP and TCP ports

 

Deleting Avorion except for the galaxy file we were using and reinstalling it

 

Moving the sector file out restarting the server.. closing the server after new sectors are populated and deleting the new sector file and putting the old sector file back in. 

 

 

ANY HELP would be appreciated.. we're at our wits end we've done everything we can... I wouldn't really care but total manhours into our galaxy is over 400.  That's a lot of time to flush down a toilet.  All I did was close the game and reboot the server and now everyone is stuck on loading except for me.

Apparently this is client side.. I uninstalled the client on both my server and gaming pc (stupidly not saving the galaxy file)

 

 

and now I realize I cannot join any multiplayer game.. it just gets stuck on the loading screen,

Neither server PC nor gaming PC can join... have checked network settings, nothings changed, ports are open and correct.

 

 

Weirdly I can join the server I host from my PC but neither the PC nor the server can join anyone else..

 

 

Ports are forwarded correctly.. not sure what's goin on here.

Deleted both games and app data on both games... still no joy....

 

 

 

Computer and server work for multiple other games (and hosting of other games) including minecraft, starbound, and others... This has to be an avorion specfic issue perhaps related to the steam ID...

 

 

Even tried to DMZ the IP address on the router... STILL would not let anyone log in.

Can't figure it out..

 

It says UDP error... on port 27003... I have it open.

Update,

 

 

 

Single player loads. No problems... Tried logging in from a friends account.. Game will not load...  This means the issue is local side and network related.. may hard reset router and see if that works.

 

 

When i try to connect to servers server side says I have joined the galaxy... I appear in the galaxy.... When I ctrl alt delete and close the application (because it never loads) it says I leave the galaxy.

Getting a little lost since you updated a lot and so not sure where you stand now.

 

Check to make sure you have those ports open on local software firewall. Statically open and set them, do not rely on software firewalls allowing "applications" through firewall.

 

Have you tried telnet on those ports on the server from lan client then over internet?

Yes, I have and it works.  It works locally it just does not work over the internet.

 

 

This has to be a router issue and now I am stumped because if I pull the router it works fine.. I can connect and people can connect to me...

So what I did the other night was just hard reset the router completely.. and it worked! I could connect (of course no one could connect to any server I ran.) At least I could play the game with other people.

 

 

 

Funny enough my router has a stupid issue that the internet will just shut off and won't come back unless you unplug and plug it back in (resetting via the local LAN address does not work.)  So what did I do? I unplug my Nighthawk AC1700 R6400 and go to Amazon and buy a AC1750 R6700v2..

 

 

IM STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE with the router shutting off.... I've just currently set the MTU to 1436 and hopefully that fixes the disconnect issue... My Minecraft server is working fine I have yet to try avorion for fear of screwing it up.

Avorion itself should not be able to screw up your router - that's not how it works.

 

How fast is your upload speed? What exactly is the issue now, please answer these questions:

 

Are you running your server for your friends locally in your own network?

Can you log into a server via internet?

Can you log into your own server via internet?

Can you log into your own server via LAN?

Can other people log into your server via internet?

 

If others can't connect to you, you should check your server logs if there were attempts to log in. Every log in is logged. If there are no attempts logged, then the server doesn't receive any packets and something in your port forwarding doesn't work.

 

If the attempts are visible in the log, I'd need the upload speed of the connection that your server runs on, and the logs of the people trying to connect.

My upload speed is 10Mbps  (not mbps)

 

 

The server is in my network.. It's sitting next to me in my room. They are connecting from the internet.

 

AGAIN.. this server has no problems with minecraft or starbound... the issue is specific to avorion.

Can I log into the sever via LAN yes I can

 

Could other people log into my server via internet No they could not.

 

 

 

and again, I bought another router and have yet to set it up for avorion with the port forwarding.. I've just been enjoying the game too much on the server we decided to pay monthly for.
