Connection Lost: No Response From Server

Hosting a Multiplayer save of a galaxy I've been playing with my friend on for a few days now. The game was running when I went out for work, and I came home to thread name's error message. I joined a random online game and chatted with some dudes, things worked just fine there. Trying to host my saved galaxy as a multiplayer game again caused the same connection issue: I log in, I'm in my home sector, I can look and move around, but I can't damage anything and when I try to switch sectors or give commands to units in other sectors, nothing happens. After about a minute of waiting with no responses, I get the thread name's error message again.

 

I've tried restarting Steam (which fixed my former issue, but not this one), restarting my internet adapter, playing the server with authentication on and off, to no avail.
