I just got trinium and built a few hangars, excited to buy some mining drones. Several jumps later I still haven't found an equipment dock. I could backtrack to the iron systems which is the last time I've seen one.
It would be cool, and useful, if you could talk to other ships and ask them for directions. I'm sure there's a lot of plans for further development of different factions.
Some ideas for progression:
Neutral: Give the location of a few nearby sectors that have establishments, though no specifics.
Friendly: Be able to ask for location of the nearest station type (eg, equipment, military outpost, repair dock)
Good: Give details about common stations in nearby sectors
Admired: Larger range and also details about mining areas and perhaps trade routes / manufacturing stations
