  3. Hi Dark So local client to local server works. Lan client to server works. Internet client to lan server does not? Getting a little lost since you updated a lot and so not sure where you stand now. Check to make sure you have those ports open on local software firewall. Statically open and set them, do not rely on software firewalls allowing "applications" through firewall. Have you tried telnet on those ports on the server from lan client then over internet?
  4. Samdill is your game using 20gb of ram? In the other thread you went dark for a time then came back requesting dev help without saying whether you tried the other things that were suggested. You have not posted in this thread before and are requesting dev help. Overall the game seems to work on most platforms without to many issues, though there are a few. Awesome on the dev if he decides to help you, but it would be a good first choice to try and work with the community that is surprisingly helpful if you can first.
  5. Hey Hammel, over the next day or two I will experiment with this save as I am very curious. I am planning on reloading my server into a much harder difficulty with a few mods and I am hoping to make fighters play more of a role. Especially with PD coming, so would be great to find out what causes it. Have you messed with the max fighter per person/sector for the Galaxy?
  6. So there are a couple ways you can go about this. On a dedicated server: You can replace the currently named Galaxy the server is set to use with the other save by replacing the files underneath the folder with the name of the Galaxy the server is using, or you can put your other save in same directory with it's own name, go into config and switch between the two galaxies by changing the name it is using. If you are wanting to merge saves, the player.dat files contain each players info such as money and resources and list of weapons and mods in their inventory, and you can also manually move over individual sector files if I remember correctly.
  7. Agreed on the no E-sport. It becomes so specific to a rock paper scissors formula that even E-sport rts isnt won by strategy but by the superior builder and ability spammer. I do however think some inspired hosting of events would be fun. While there are a few player ones, I would love to see a dev sponsored and ran one. I do feel if a game can stand on it's own enough, that it could become an E-sport on it's own from not following the developer formula for E-sport. However even then, I do not see Avorion really becoming that. At least as it is now; Which is a fun pve /light pvp space sandbox combat game. And really it doesn't need to be. Most (if not all) of the games I enjoy most are non E-sport games. Some even have or had competitive multiplayer
  8. Hey Ambro how is your roleplay server going? Curious how a roleplay would ...well...play out so to speak. Do you people have people with different ships such as start wars or Star trek like or fleets interacting frequently? Thanks!

  10. I agree, it is an unnecessary delay, and after the delay you have very little time before it then de-spawns. Making it it 10 to 20 seconds I can understand, but any longer feels unnecessary.
  11. Hey to get around this, increase the brake speed on those ships. Do not use inertial dampeners though, the AI does not take that into account. The has been set so AI won't run into you and has enough stopping distance in the event you suddenly stop. So if they have a 30,000ms top speed and a braking speed of 5 m/s it won't go very fast.   12. Nice, you really make some great ships Skuny. I don't get much free time due to work and family so I cannot spend 40+ hours on a build like I would love too, so being able to deploy UNSC assets in my game/server is great. Also, I was able to trim down your longsword to Less than 200 blocks and it still looks exactly the same. This makes a great fighter :) Would you like me to post it here so you can upload to steam? It's your baby after all, I just modified it slightly to be under 200 blocks. (Disregard, I see you already did this...my bad.) (Edit: ok not exactly but still pretty close.)
  13. Player run ships only run their wage timer when that player is signed in. Whether they are in alliance ship or not, if they are logged into he server it will run. If they are not on the server, it stops, even if others are in a system with that players ship. Alliance ships run if anyone in the alliance is on. Whether they are in their own ship or an alliance ship, if they are.logged into server the alliance wage timer will run. I run a dedicated server with a couple friends of mine as well. Happy playing!
  14. Also looks like factories for manufacturing are not.making anything even when they have all needed supplies. Ha e you seen this?

  17. I really love how you're "keeping it real" with the mspaint edits on the screenshots ;D Otherwise, that's a mighty "damned" ship. I get a very real from the planes of Oblivion feel from it. If we ever get to make our own evil npc factions, this going to get a lot of use from me. (Yeah sorry, I'm a good guy at heart that likes to deliver justice with my liberty cannons)

    With my high performance server dedicated to avorion 6 feet away I see fighter shots not always being applied and have seen a spinning ship or two.
  19. For modules not working. Some of them will not work till you jump into a system with them in. Object detector, mining, and I believe trading.
  20. Hi Ulthael, Sorry for not responding right away. This post was one I meant to respond to but life happens. Is kiting and poking a prevalent issue that has been used against you? Against the AI, yeah it will work, hell 17km guided missiles will work too. As well as pushing rock into enemies, hiding in dense asteriods fields etc. 600 dps fighter swarms, and kinetic kill ships against stations. That's just a general weakness of static defenses and the AI in general. As for pvp, ramming would become a meta, as well as pulse weapons. If you don't know what those are yet, I recommend you keep playing the game for a bit, or if you do have them, they have a 70% shield pen but a generally lower dps. There are several videos and forum posts of people ramming the final boss with a ship that is nothing but armor and engines. As well as ramming other small ships. Now the fact that there are plenty of weapons and alternatives where as you say, a player can wear down another trying to do this, it works well. As well as the fact that the community considers this a d**k move, we don't see it. Now you can decrease or turn off collision damage at the server level which will stop this. On your final point, yes you can make a god ship, and yes it is fairly easy, but how would giving shields better Regen not exacerbate this? Throw in a shield booster or two and it would become just ridiculous in my opinion. Now if your talking something specific to npcs or the xsotan to give them a little more edge, than ok, for the sake of gameplay, 100% on board.
  21. Completely agree. As a preferred non-aggressive player, I didn't want to randomly blow up a research satellite. I had to look up how to get the last upgrade because I never randomly decided to blow up a research station.
  22. Don't they usually appear with a message containing "our engines are down"? Granted when you look at how hyper jumps work in the game right now, that whole scenario doesn't make sense. It would make more sense if they were attacked in hyperspace/warp travel. As it stands, jumps are more Battlestar Galactica style, so it would stand to reason the message should be more along the line of: "Help we damaged our engines in an an emergency jump trying to escape from pirates! Please help, they are right behind us!!!" Then have the pirates spawn 10 seconds later, and another message: "Mayday, we are under.....zzz..ZZttt***......" Then you, the ever benevolent captain with 10k omicrons of liberty delivering mercy cannons, can either leave them be after becoming their savior, or free them from their mortal coils...
  23. I see what your getting at, but that initial jump concerns me that happens to 150%. X2 power consumption at around 130% would be better or even 125%. In addition. I agree to the damage over time. The ship entirely loses ability to self reapair until OC is taken off and takes a slow damage over time that grows in proportion to the amount of overclock. However this would have to be some form of toggle ability, and the npc factions/pirates/xsotan need more balance and composition to even warrant it's use. As for bigger is better, I think bigger should always be more powerful, have more presence and a variance of utility, but not necessarily better. This however is a topic for another thread.
