Vulnerable ship when jumping to highly populated sectors

Getting pretty fed up with this, allegedly on one of the last updates the ships were made "invulnerable" during the "Press Space..." screen, BUT

- When playing online (server has been running and in use since Feb without problems, is updated as soon as new update is available, clients updated as soon as update available) and jumping to a sector which has many asteroids / and/or other faction ships/xsotan/pirates

-- Load time is excessively long (multiple minutes with UDP packets/s around 500 - 800 and UDP overhead at 89-92 %)

-- during the "Press Space..." load screen damage sounds are heard

-- Pressing Space usually does not immediately remove the load screen (pressing multiple times / or a delay of 1-4s shows the screen)

-- on showing the sector the ship is damaged, and before any other interaction can take place the message appears that the ship was destroyed

 

This has occurred multiple times recently and load times for populated sectors seems to have increased (appears proportional, higher population = longer loading time). Empty sectors load instantly and pressing space immediately removes the load screen.

During loading the map screen shows the ship at the new sector, so it would appear that the ship is first being placed in the new sector, then being allowed to be attacked during the long load time.

 

Please fix this, it is highly annoying to lose expensive ships, and is far more fun playing with friends online (well, apart from needing to avoid busy sectors)

There is a option in the "game settings" to turn the "Space to continue" off, I highly Suggest doing so.

assuming you are also the server host you can turn off collision Im not really a fan of it myself so its mainly an opinion which might solve those instant kills as I'm guessing they were from asteroids.

 

Also Avorion seems to be very heavy on your connection in the terms of multiplayer.

I'm pretty sure every time you jump your Network usage is going to Ping more than an old man with viagra

Thanks for the reply.

To perhaps be more clear, it is not a collision issue, it is the fact that there are unfriendly ships in the sector being jumped into, which attack / damage / destroy my ship before I have control.

Ships were meant to be invulnerable during the "Press Space to Continue" screen, which should mean the ship can load and everything be prepared so that when you press space you immediately take control of the ship and can start avoidance manouvers.

 

I have seen others mention turning off the "Press Space to Continue" screen however there is never an explanation of how this may help and it seems that turning this off removes an (admittedly false) level of safety as then then ship definitely loads in the unfriendly sector. (Plus you can never nip away from the computer during the long loads)
